What Is Journey?

Journey builds your travel profile based on your experiences.

We created Journey to inspire memorable travels, by building out your profile so you can see what kind of traveler you are and what kind of traveler you want to be. All it takes is a Facebook login and Journey does the rest!

You can also see where in the world your friends are traveling so you can meet up or connect them; because after all, one of the most important parts about the journey is who joins you along the way.

We are just getting started and hope to build out many more useful social travel features. This is just the first step. We hope you like it and would love ideas for what to add next!

Functionality details:

1. Journey lets you connect your Facebook and Instagram accounts so that it can calculate the approximate distance you have traveled and based on an algorithm that checks over 50 distinct variables per trip gives you travel experience based on where you have been and what you have done. For now our only source of your travel data is your social media posts but we hope to incorporate more things such as your camera roll in the future so you dont have to be too active on social media to get your deserved level. You can go back through your entire social history and tag the correct locations if there are things missing.

2. Journey gives you trophies for special places you have been. These trophies are worth experience and can be unlocked by posting at the location. Check out the trophy library and map to see where we have put them so far. There are a couple secret ones that require you to solve a riddle to find and do not appear on the map.

3. The Journey Friend Map or Compass as we call it shows you where all your friends are traveling and living. This makes it easier to see who is in town when you arrive in a new city and the app will send you a notification when you arrive in a new city with connections around you. It will eventually also notify you when a close friend is traveling nearby you or in your city. We want to make sure you never miss that small world magic that happens when you are traveling since one of the most memorable things about travel is catching up with friends, new and old, along the way.
This feature works better when you have a bunch of friends on Journey. So we need your help to spread the word! Its quite a magical experience to browse this feature when a bunch of your friends are on it!

4. There is a leaderboard that shows you how experienced of a traveler you are compared to your friends, and compared everyone else on the platform.
